VALUE BETTING
Value
betting means that you believe that a particular team or a player will perform
better than the odds they have been set from the bookmakers. It doesn’t mean
betting on the outsider, but rather betting contrary to the predictions of the
bookmakers.
Bookmakers
are not always right 100% of the time and often set their odds by estimating
latest performance of the team and it’s scores, public opinion and statistic
probabilities.
Sometimes they do not count that a team which has not made a good
performance until now will make a comeback effort. This is the occasion that
you can predict exactly when this team will make the good performance, will win
contrary to bookies predictions and odds and you will reduce your returns.
There are
some teams like Juventus, Manchester City and Liverpool for example, that are
worldwide known because of their continuously winnings, the competitions and
cups have won and their good performance.
For all these reasons they have a lot
of fans that support them and follow them where they play. Also, because of the
huge amount of their fans the owners of these teams have invested a lot of
money to obtain the best players. As such, they are instinctively expected to
win. But if a bookie offers odds of 10/1 (11.0 in decimal) against the
Liverpool losing but you’re convinced they’re in for a defeat, you place your
bet accordingly – aka value betting.
The best
step to success is to try to learn as much as you can about the team or player
you are betting for or against. The suggested time to start is at the begging
of the season. You should see the performance of the teams or players at both
official and friendly games, the condition of the players which means if they
are totally prepared, if they have suffered from any injuries, if they are
playing their last season in this team and then they will get retired or
expires their contract or moving to new team. Considering all these issues, you
should try to figure out hen a particular team or player may peak.
